A Network Support Analyst plays a critical role in maintaining the stability, security, and performance of computer networks within an organization. They are responsible for monitoring and resolving network issues, providing technical support to end-users, and ensuring the smooth operation of network infrastructure.

  1. Network Monitoring: Monitor the organization’s computer networks to identify and resolve any network issues or anomalies. This includes monitoring network performance, traffic patterns, and security threats.
  2. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Diagnose and resolve network issues, such as connectivity problems, network outages, or performance degradation. Analyze network logs and use network troubleshooting tools to identify the root cause of problems and implement appropriate solutions.
  3. Network Configuration and Maintenance: Configure and maintain network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points. Ensure network devices are properly configured and updated with the latest firmware and security patches.
  4. Network Security: Implement and enforce network security measures, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls. Monitor network traffic for potential security breaches and take necessary actions to mitigate risks.
  5. Technical Support: Provide technical support and assistance to end-users experiencing network-related issues. Troubleshoot user connectivity problems, assist with network device configurations, and educate users on network best practices.
  6. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Generate reports on network performance, security incidents, and support tickets.

Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other IT teams, such as system administrators, network engineers, and security analysts, to resolve complex network issues and implement network improvements. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on network status and planned maintenance activities.


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in network administration or technical support.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking technologies and protocols, such as TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and wireless networks.
  • Familiarity with network security practices and tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot and administer the use of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), mainframe networks and computer workstations and peripheral equipment
  • Evaluate and install computer hardware, networking software and operating system software
  • Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks and to co-ordinate access and use of computer networks
  • Provide problem-solving services to network users
  • Perform routine network start up and close down and maintain control records
  • Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations
  • Set up local area networks and connections to the Internet
  • Implement network traffic and security monitoring software, and optimize server performance
